Sensory Modernisms Research Group Founders

Dr Richard Brown

Dr Richard Brown speaking at the inaugural ‘Sensory Modernism(s): Cultures of Perception’ Conference, School of English, University of Leeds.

Sensory Modernisms is an interdisciplinary research group based at the University of Leeds.

The research group was formed following our highly successful, inaugural Sensory Modernisms conference held in May 2015. The wealth of debate generated by a consideration of the interplay of modernism with sensory perception highlighted the need for further research into this area.

Following the conference, we have generated cross-disciplinary links with colleagues within the University of Leeds, and with scholars based at other universities.
